Initially a stronger beer, stouts have now been brewed to a variety of strengths. While porters tend to be a darker beer in colour ranging from dark copper to dark brown. Common flavour profiles for a stout include coffee and chocolate. Porters usually contain hints of caramel and chocolate flavours giving this type of beer a sweeter edge.
