This village Puligny-Montrachet is grown in two plots: Les Rechaux, meaning “warmth” or “a source of heat”, and Les Meix, a word formerly used to describe a small plot of land just large enough to feed a family. In Les Rechaux the soil is deep clay and alluvium, and in Les Meix it is clay and limestone. The vineyards were planted in 1961 and 1965 respectively.
White flowers, ripe orchard fruit and gentle lemon citrus on the nose, and a beautifully linear palate with a brilliant mineral tension. The ripe fruit character builds as the wine warms in your mouth, seasoned with a cleverly balanced hint of oak. Seductive and long.
